Ann Winans founded Hoosier Boomerang Travelers LLC in late 2023 with her husband, Jerry. Ann is a native of Bunker Hill, Indiana. She’s a former mathematics teacher and currently an information technology (IT) data analyst at Taylor University. Her love of travel developed after marrying Jerry who was a career USAF officer. Together they lived and traveled across the United States and parts of Europe.
Jerry owns and operates a travel agency in Muncie, helping travelers explore the world, usually on trips lasting 5 days or longer. While at public events with his travel agency booth, a commonly asked question was, “Do you have any single-day trips?” (Many times, people added, “I enjoy traveling, but I don’t enjoy driving. And I like to sleep in my own bed each night!”)
That was the spark for Hoosier Boomerang Travelers.
“We thought it would be fun to create mostly one-day motor coach trips as “mini-vacations” from the Muncie area.” Ann says. They began researching destinations and events across Indiana, western Ohio, and northern Kentucky. “We were amazed at how many affordable one-day trips could be created!”
“We’re hoping the word will spread to adventure-seeking Hoosiers and their friends about our fun trips that go out-and-back on the same day, like a boomerang!” says Jerry. And Ann added, “We hope to eventually offer trips for shopping, dinner theater matinees, health spas, museums, special events – and maybe some mystery trips!”
